As I was holding an onion under cold running water while peeling it this afternoon, I was pondering various old wives tales… some of which seem to hold true, some NOT. Including that ‘trick’ of cutting an onion under cold running water to prevent the burning and weepy eyes so many of us experience when cutting an onion. Now I don’t consider myself as someone with any special sensitivity but I gotta tell ya… I am more and more uncomfortable with cutting onions with every year. (more…)
