Finding and Using Cool Kitchen Gadgets
Now HERE is an idea for those of us interested in going ‘green’. Compost!
Here’s a handy addition to your kitchen. It’s the coolest little compost container ever!
Easy on the eyes, the Bamboo Compost Pail holds those fruit and vegetable scraps while looking attractive on your shelf or countertop. And this classic little beauty has the modern appeal of a dishwasher safe liner that’s removable and easy to clean. That, combined with the replaceable Charcoal Filters that are insertable into the lid, keeps odors in check. Add the movable handle that makes carrying this pail out to your compost bin easy-breezy… and it might convince even the most ‘compost resistant’ family to consider changing their habits.
After all, you can save on the use of your garbage disposal as well as the costs of enriching you soil if you just take the time to save those scraps.
You have to do something with those scraps anyway… so there’s no extra work. By simply dumping them into your Bamboo Pail to start the decomposition of once-living material, you make earthy, dark, crumbly matter filled with nutrients and excellent for adding to your houseplants or garden soil. This stuff is like ‘black gold’! I realize everyone doesn’t get into a good experiment with my gusto but maybe if you realize that an average of 700 lbs. of material per household per stream can be relieved from the waste stream by composting at home, you’ll find more satisfaction in saving those food scraps and adding them to your outdoor leaves.
Personally… I get great delight when some curious soul visiting my house for the first time takes a peek inside this great looking pail only to discover (much to their surprise) GARBAGE! Maybe it’s just my quirky sense of humor but that alone is worth the price!
